All the new Montblanc 1858 additions from Watches and Wonders

New Montblanc 1858 watches from this year's Watches and Wonders conference in Geneva

Montblanc has had a busy week at Watches and Wonders in Geneva. You get not one but three additions to the 1858 line.

Two of the new watches are named the 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date, and the 1858 Minerva Monopusher Chronograph Red Arrow LE88.

Here’s what you need to know.

Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date

From Montblanc:

The 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date features a stainless steel case with curved horns and polished and satinated finishing.

A knurled ceramic unidirectional turning bezel features shot blasting in bi-coloured blue Super-Luminova with blue emission on the dot, while round crystal sapphire colourless multilayer is anti-reflective inside and out.

The back of the watch features iceberg and diver 3D engraving and the dial showcases an icy impression, rhodium coated and blue coloured luminescent cathedral shaped hour and minute hands.

From Montblanc:

In 1927, Minerva was already a leader in the field of pilots’ watches with the introduction of a stopwatch with an internal rotating bezel for countdown timing.

This followed, in 1939, by a chronograph wristwatch featuring an external rotating bezel.

Today, two of these rare external rotating bezel models are part of Montblanc’s treasured museum collection and are the inspiration behind this new Minerva Monopusher Chronograph Red Arrow.

Key elements include a fluted bezel in 19K white gold for easy use with pilots gloves and the Maison’s signature red arrow that allowed a quick and easy reading of elapsed time.

The red arrow is a nod to the Roman Goddess Minerva, the goddess of craftsmanship, who carried a spear with an arrow at its tip.
