Gin is an incredibly versatile drink. It tastes great in everything from a simple tonic mixer, right through to a mixologist cocktail. Here are our favourite recipes.

Traditional Gin and Tonic – Fever Tree Tonic

The ultimate gin and tonic is one where you can actually taste both ingredients. If you’ve got cheap, nasty tonic in your fridge, pour it out. Your gin deserves better.

150ml of Fever-Tree Premium Indian Tonic Water

50ml of a classic London Dry gin

Plenty of fresh ice

A twist of lime peel

Combine in your favourite glass and enjoy responsibly

Negroni – Aviation Gin

A negroni is the apex gin cocktail according to this writer. Our friends at Aviation Gin have a trick up their sleeve to make it even better, with the addition of orange.

50mL Aviation American Gin

25mL Bitter Aperitivo Liqueur

25mL Sweet Vermouth

Orange Twist

Combine all ingredients into mixing glass with Ice. Stir, then strain into Rocks glass with Ice. Garnish with Orange Twist.

The Aviation – Aviation Gin

This is the signature cocktail from our friends at Aviation Gin.

50mL Aviation American Gin

15mL Maraschino Liqueur

15mL Lemon Juice

15mL Simple Syrup

1 tsp Crème De Violette

Combine all ingredients in cocktail shaker with Ice. Shake, then strain into Coupe glass with Ice. Garnish with brandied Cherry.

Starry Old Fashioned – Hendricks Lunar Gin

Hendricks is a staple of any good bar cart. But the boffins in the lab have come up with a Lunar Gin, filled with botanicals that only bloom at night.

Here we’ve selected a few cocktails from their mixologists to try, but any Hendricks with these ingredients would still taste delicious.

50ml Hendrick’s Lunar Gin

7.5ml sugar syrup

1 dash orange bitters

1 dash Angostura Aromatic Bitters

Orange twist

Method:

  • Stir all ingredients over ice cubes in a mixing glass
  • Strain into a rocks glass over ice
  • Garnish with a twist of orange

Moonlight Buck – Hendricks Lunar Gin

50ml Hendrick’s Lunar Gin

15ml lemon juice

Top with ginger ale

3 slices of cucumber

Twist of lemon

Method:

  • Combine all ingredients in a highball glass filled with cubed ice
  • Lightly stir and serve
  • Garnish with 3 thinly sliced rounds of cucumber and a twist of lemon

Sichuan Negroni – Peddlers Gin

Peddlers is the pride of China. Designed to be mixed with both Western and Eastern mixers, the folks at Peddlers have whipped up some recipes for us.

30mL Peddlers gin.

30mL Campari.

30mL sweet vermouth.

Pour into a shaker with ice. Stir.

Rub orange peel around rim of a short glass filled with ice. Strain liquid into glass.

Garnish with orange peel (burnt cassia optional). Serve.

Pineapple Negroni – Peddlers Gin

45ml Peddlers craft gin

30ml Campari

30ml dry vermouth

5ml pineapple syrup.

Stir for 30 seconds and strain into an ice-filled rocks glass.

Garnish with an orange twist.

Peddlers Mule – Peddlers Gin

45ml Peddlers craft gin,

3 thin slices of fresh ginger,

2 lime wedges

A few mint leaves

Muddle briefly in a shaker

Add ice and shake hard for 15 seconds.

Double strain into an ice-filled mule mug

Top with spicy ginger beer

Garnish with fresh ginger, lime wedge and mint.

Gingerbread Sour – Peddlers Gin

45ml Peddlers craft gin

20ml fresh lemon juice

20ml fresh ginger juice

15ml simple syrup to a shaker.

Add ingreditents to a shaker with ice and shake hard for 20 seconds.

Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass and garnish with a slice of fresh ginger.

Gin Fizz – Peddlers Gin

45ml Peddlers craft gin,

20ml fresh lemon juice

15ml simple syrup

Add ingreditents to a shaker with ice and shake hard for 20 seconds.

Strain into an ice-filled highball glass and top with soda.

Garnish with lemon twist.
